Kimber is the 5 year old daughter of Justin and Brigette Downes. A recent routine dental visit for Kimber has turned into a nightmare for this family. A very small abnormality was seen in Kimber’s cheek. Thankfully her dentist was adamant that Kimber be seen by a specialist as soon as possible. The small bump has grown rapidly and the family’s biggest fears were confirmed. Minutes before welcoming their third child into the world, Kimber’s cancer diagnosis came through Justin’s phone. After a few hours of being with his wife and new baby, Justin rushed Kimber to the Children’s hospital to do scans and biopsies. As of right now the treatment plan is for Kimber to have 42 weeks of chemotherapy. The family will need to take her to the Children’s Hospital in Sioux Falls every Friday. She cannot go back to school, church, gymnastics, daycare, or any large gatherings for fear of infection. The Downes family would greatly appreciate your support!
